Privacy Policy
RedactBar runs 100% locally on your Mac. It has no telemetry, no crash trackers, no cloud analytics, and no accounts.
What leaves your Mac
- License validation. When you activate a license and once a day afterwards, RedactBar sends your license key, an activation ID, and your Mac's name to our merchant of record, Polar (polar.sh), to confirm your license status.
- Software update checks. RedactBar checks GitHub Releases to see if a newer version is available. That request transmits the app version and macOS version like any standard HTTP request.
Nothing else is transmitted. Your clipboard contents, environment variable files, shell histories, and detected secrets NEVER leave your machine.
What stays on your Mac
- Your local allowlists and preferences, stored in your user's defaults.
- Your license key and trial anchor, stored securely in the macOS Keychain.
- Scanned shell history and .env file indexes, held in memory and discarded when the app quits.
Purchases
All payments are processed securely by Polar (polar.sh) as merchant of record. We never see or store your credit card information.
